A fun photography project you can do with your family or friends is to recreate special photographs. Here's how to do it:

Gather old photographs. Take a look through your photo albums to gather the old photo(s) you'll use. Try to go back as far as you can. If you're a teen recreating a moment from your childhood just a few years before, you'll have a large enough contrast. If you're an adult you'll want to go back further to a time when you looked somewhat different than you do now. Pick out a photo that is really memorable to you and others. The photo could have been embarrassing when it was taken, but you laugh about it now. Narrow down your top choices and consider which ones you can realistically recreate.

Grab your family and friends in the original photograph. After you've selected a photograph make sure your photo subjects are on board with recreating the special moment. If someone didn't like their hair in a certain photo now is the time for them to change it a bit. If the photo is a goofy or silly moment you'll want to maintain that same humorous nature.

Dress the part. You don't have to try to recreate the hair and clothing styles of the 90's, 80's, 70's, 60's, but you can wear the same type of clothing. If you're wearing suit in the original photograph, put on another suit. You may also want to similar colors if possible. If a fashion has come back in style similar what you're wearing in the original photograph, that could make for a stylish comparison.

Find the location. Try to go to the same location as the original photograph so both background and setting will be consistent. In some cases there may be a location you can't access. You may not be able to get into your old high school cafeteria. Or maybe you've moved to a different house. Try to find a similar location. If the photo was taken in your old kitchen, take a similar one in your new kitchen.

Study the poses. If you and a couple of friends have distinct poses in the old photo do exactly the same thing. If the photo is more of a close up then focus more on having the same facial expressions.

Place the photos side-by-side. Now that you've taken your recreated photograph take a look at the old and new images. What similarities do you see? What differences? Enjoy your new photo as you've just created new memories.

Scotty Lago learned a valuable lesson for any celebrity thrust into the limelight. Don’t write anything down, and don’t record video or take photos. His failure to understand the part about taking photos has led to a public apology and his quick exit from the Olympic games.

Scotty is a well-known snowboarder who had won the bronze medal in the Olympic halfpipe last week. As is the custom of many medal winners, he decided to wear the medal around town while partying. The only issue is that Scotty clearly didn’t realize that you are supposed to wear the medal around your neck and not your waist.

That unfortunate bit of confusion led to a racy photo of a young women kissing Scotty’s medal. I did mention he was wearing it around his waist right? If you’re looking for the photo you can find it on TMZ.

Scotty is back at home where he tweeted the following using his Twitter account (@scottylago):

Got home this morning to all my homies. Such a good Olympic experience. Keeping my medal in a safe spot for now haha

Hopefully other Olympic athletes can learn a valuable lesson from this experience. First is to be cautious when and where you are having a photo taking. Second is to always wear your medal around your neck.

I made new Images in the last months - please tell me if you like them:

Enlightened Joschka Fische fake picture - Schelmenmarkt Gelnhausen by temp13rec.

Picture Website Tell me if you like them - i love to discuss the photos with you!

Most of my photo shoots come around through word of mouth. Someone mentions their own photos to a friend, and usually mentions the rates for a shoot. Very often, I get interested people based solely on my rates. Whenever that is the case, it is certain that a photo shoot never happens.

I will get an email where the only thing mentioned is how low my rates are, and that they want to make an appointment. They never mention any photos, and they usually have ideas that are nothing like what I do. I can tell when someone has not bothered to look at some of my photos. These people apparently fall off the earth and no-show the appointment.

Very few people are courteous enough to let me know it is not going to work out. It seems the price is right, but I was not.

That is fine. I would not want to be for everyone. This demonstrates to me that there is much more value in a photographer than how much he costs. It will take some work, but finding the right photographer for you will make the experience much better. And give you photos that you love.

I wanted to write a quick guide of what to consider when hiring a photographer for your personal photos. Now this comes from personal experience, so I am sure other photographers have different ideas and expectations. Since that is the case, the number one rule is - communicate with the photographer.

With the affordability of digital cameras, anybody can become a photographer. Becoming a good photographer is another story however. Take a quick look at Craigslist and you can find many pro and would-be photographers in your area. You most likely have a photographer in your family as well. Not just anyone is going to be the best photographer for you though.

Find a Photographer

Determine how much you are willing to spend. Despite just saying cost is not the most important factor, it will give you a guideline for the type of photographer you should look for. Will you be looking at pro photographers with years in the business, or an amateur just getting started? As you look over portfolios, focus on the photographers that create the kinds of photos you would want to be in. Do you want to be in a studio, or at a location?

Ask questions. You are the customer. I do not understand why people feel nervous about creative types like photographers, but do not be shy. Make sure to ask all the questions that you have. It helps to understand who your photographer is, how he works and what he expects of you. Ask about prints and copyright issues. Understand exactly what you are about to get.

Do not haggle for rate discounts. If you do not want to pay the rate he is asking, then move along. This is not a Turkish bazaar.

Share your ideas. This might depend on the photographer, but I personally enjoy when people are comfortable enough to throw out their own ideas. You know what you like, and you probably know what makes you look good and feel comfortable. It is worth a try.

Day of the shoot

Show up on time. Better yet, show up 15 minutes early. Take a few moments to relax and not feel rushed into snapping photos. Depending on the photographer and the situation, if you show up late you may just go home empty handed. It is not uncommon for a photographer to charge a deposit on the appointment. It is probably because he is tired of people being late or no showing.

If you are going to be late, let the photographer know. If your appointment is at 7 a.m., do not call at 7:15 and say you are going to be another 20 minutes late. That is just rude. Also, do not pull a no show. If you cannot or do not want to shoot anymore, have a little courtesy and make a phone call.

Do not try to sneak in anything you have not already talked about. The price you were quoted reflects the photo shoot you discussed. Do not wait until halfway through the shoot to try to sneak Aunt Mildred in. Be respectful of the photographer and his time.

After the shoot

Give credit to the photographer. If you do not give credit where it is due - at the least you can expect some bad karma, but at the worst expect some copyright infringement litigation. Together you can determine the photo rights, but most likely, your photographer will tell you how it is going to be.

If you love your photos and had a great experience, tell your friends. There are so many options available now. Do not feel like you have to settle on anything. Become an active participant in your photos. You do not have to be a professional model to create great images that fit your personality. You just have to think beyond the white shirt and blue jeans - and find the photographer that fits you.

Fiznatty aka Max Waugh is no stranger to our Photo of the Day. His latest is called “The Hunter and the Mountain.”

While trying to seek wildlife to photograph, Max instead managed to get this great shot of a the Andes in the Argentina portion of Patagonia. I'll let him explain the long-exposure shot:

In case of poor animal sightings, seek landscapes.

That was the advice I gave to myself before the trip. Knowing beforehand that I may not have the best luck with wildlife, I wanted to be sure to visit a couple of Patagonia's famous mountains in hopes of catching some striking sunrises on the massive towers of Mt. Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre and Torres del Paine. Of course, since I was pretty far down in the southern hemisphere and needed to hike to some of the more ideal viewpoints, this meant early wakeup calls. This time it was 3am, on another morning 2:30.

We arrived pretty early on this one particular morning, and with nothing better to do than avoid the trailside skunks and jog in place to combat the biting cold wind, I spent my time taking long exposures. Had I started earlier, star trails may have been in the offing, but at this point I was happy to capture Orion looming over the peak of Mt. Fitz Roy. Streetlights from the town of Chalten provide the golden glow reflecting off the hills in the foreground.

You don't have to be a pro like Max to be featured on Gadling's Photo of the Day!

Are you a Flickr user who'd like to share a travel related picture or two for our consideration? Submit it to Gadling's Flickr group right now! We just might use it.

The actual couple is on the right. My source tips me that the left photo is the first result one gets when doing a Google search for “ugly lesbians.” Via the Orlando Sentinel's excellent Scott Maxwell:

“Arrogant judicial activism” was how the finger-waggers at Orlando's Florida Family Policy Council described the ruling in an alert it sent out to its members last week. And to make their point about just how frightening this ruling was, the Policy Council included a photograph of the couple — a strange and androgynous-looking duo, one with bleached skin and both with mullet haircuts. The couple look so odd (you literally can't tell whether they are male or female) that one might wonder how any judge could place a young child with such a disturbing-looking duo. Except the judge didn't.

The abnormal-looking couple that the Policy Council chose to illustrate this story is not the same couple granted the right to adopt the child. No, the two-woman couple awarded custody of the 1-year-old — South Florida trade-show executive Vanessa Alenier and her partner, Melanie Leon — look more like J.Crew models: all-American with catalogue clothes and smiles. The picture that the Policy Council chose was a grotesque caricature. These are the dirty tactics of Christianity's far-right warriors. Not the majority of mainstream Christians, mind you. Not those who are focused on caring for their own families and practicing their own faith — but those who are obsessed with homosexuality. These extremists wage their campaigns of intolerance based on deception and misrepresentation. And they have the gall to do it in God's name.

Deception, insults, and petty schoolyard taunts. It's all they have.

Pentax Optio 7.0 Megapixel Digital Camera Review

Motorola Milestone Test by gillyberlin

Autoradio bei Amazon Online Shop

Whenever you are searching the market for a new digital camera, it can become a tiresome and overwhelming feat. The reason for this is because there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of digital camera within any given price category. If you desire a digital camera that will allow you to take stunning pictures of your friends, family and sporting events, than I highly suggest the Panasonic Lumix 7.2 Megapixel Digital Camera, Model: DMC-TZ3. This digital camera has all of the major features consumers require to take breathtaking photographs without having to spend hours researching the use of the camera.

Main Features:

The first feature that comes with this digital camera are all of the systems that work together to produce a high-performance picture. With an advanced image sensor, you are able to enjoy pictures that are true to color and depth. This is very important if you take photographs outside, because many digital cameras are unable to product true-to-life colors with outdoor pictures.

Perhaps one of the most unique features of this Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera are the various shutter speeds. With the Starry Sky Mode, you are able to extend the sutter speed by 15 seconds, 30 seconds and 60 seconds, allowing you to take breathtaking images of a starry night. If you are interested in astronomy, or are a college student who is currently enrolled in an astronomy class, you will enjoy this feature.

With various color modes, you are able to choose how you want your image to be taken. You can choose between: Vivid, Cool, Sepia, Black & White, Natural and Warm. I have found that you will want to choose natural and vivid color modes when you are shooting outside, and if you are indoors the other color modes will work depending on the lighting. A great way to test a color mode is to take a test shot of your foot or nearby object. This will ensure that you will have the best-looking pictures every time.

You are able to record video with this digital camera in QuickTime Motion JPEG. Whenever you go out with your friends this is a great feature to have. For still images you can choose between three main aspect ratios. These include: 16:9, 3:2 and 4:3. Depending on the amount of pixels you desire to use and how fluid you want your pictures to be, will determine the aspect ratio. To maximize storage space, I recommend going with the 4:3 Aspect Ratio for the majority of your photos.

Product Usability:

I personally recommend this product for students, families and casual photographers. If you desire a digital camera to record moments at birthday parties and family gatherings, this is the perfect camera for you. However, if you are planning on purchasing a digital camera for high-profile pictures, or professional-quality images, I would suggest purchasing a digital camera with a higher Megapixel rate.

Price:

You can find this Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera for an average price of only $300. This is a great price for a Panasonic Digital Camera.

Darn. I hate when a game looks awesome but it sucks.

I dunno about that second part though. Manga is one thing because your eyes move from one speech bubble to another, but I think continually reading from a vertical text box in a video game would be pretty offputting.

But whenever I used to read posts about “why isn't this game in English?!?”, someone would always immediately reply: “'cause the text is vertical.”, which is why I said that. =3=

Billy has also been assisting with the Florida Air National Guard's rollout of their CPI Program (Continuous Process Improvement).

According to the Six Sigma Website, “The fundamental objective of the Six Sigma methodology is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy that focuses on process improvement and variation reduction through the application of Six Sigma improvement projects. This is accomplished through the use of two Six Sigma sub-methodologies: DMAIC and DMADV. The Six Sigma DMAIC process (define, measure, analyze, improve, control) is an improvement system for existing processes falling below specification and looking for incremental improvement. The Six Sigma DMADV process (define, measure, analyze, design, verify) is an improvement system used to develop new processes or products at Six Sigma quality levels. It can also be employed if a current process requires more than just incremental improvement. Both Six Sigma processes are executed by Six Sigma Green Belts and Six Sigma Black Belts, and are overseen by Six Sigma Master Black Belts.”

I've worked in the computer industry for more years then I'd like to admit. Having more computer certifications that you can shake a stick at, I've done everything from building and selling computers to technical support and everything else in-between.

One of the things I run into the most is how upset people are with the expensive cost of programs for their shiny new computers running Microsoft Windows. Let me do you and your pocketbook a favor by sharing some great free programs for Microsoft Windows that you've probably never heard of.

Free Security Programs for Microsoft Windows

Everyone is concerned with internet safety and the security of their computers. If you aren't then you should be. Scores of computers are infected with viruses and spyware everyday. Here are some free programs to make sure that your's is not one of them.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition: Anti-Virus Software

Millions of people rely on the free edition of Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus software. AVG's virus detection methods have won numerous awards and despite being a stripped down version of the commercial program, it is very robust.

Features of AVG Anti-Virus include a daily auto-updating virus definition list, weekly computer scans, a virus vault, and a resident anti-virus shield to test files for viruses before you access them. It also scans your incoming and outgoing email for viruses as well.

Support for the free version is limited to the Grisoft forums; and the AVG Free edition license is only for personal and non-commercial use.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is for computers running Microsoft Windows XP, or Vista.

You can get your free copy of AVG here.

Spybot - Search and Destroy: Anti-Spyware Program

Spybot - Search and Destroy searches for and removes spyware from your computer. It was rated as being some of the best privacy software available by both PC World and PCMag.com.

Spybot - Search and Destroy helps protect and cleanse your computer of malicious software. The list includes: spyware, adware, keyloggers, malware, trojan horse programs, tool bar add-ons, and browser hijackers to name a few.

While they do request donations via Paypal, Spybot-Search and Destroy is a free program written for computers using Microsoft Windows.

You can download Spybot - Search and Destroy for free by clicking here.

Free Audio, Video and DVD Burning Programs for Microsoft Windows

Audacity: Audio Editing Software

Audacity is a free and extremely easy to use sound editing program that is disturbed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

OpenOffice: Free Productivity Software

Many are already aware of Sun Microsystems's OpenOffice. I would however be remiss if I did not include it for those who still don't know that it exists.

OpenOffice is a productivity suite that contains the same type of programs that are in Microsoft Office. This includes a word processor similar to Microsoft Word, a spreadsheet program like Excel, A database program like Access, and well you get the idea. Also included in OpenOffice is a presentation program (like PowerPoint) and a simple drawing tool.

Some other great benefits of OpenOffice, is that it works with Microsoft Office files and you can save your documents in a PDF format.

OpenOffice works on computers running Microsoft Windows and is completely free.

Download your free copy of OpenOffice from here.

When people hear about these programs that available for free, they often think that it's just too good to be true. It's true.

I have personally used or do use all of these programs and they are free. Many of the authors of these programs believe that software should be accessible to everyone. Others request small donations, which you should give them if you use their products. By donating, you ensure that they will continue to update and share their programs with the rest of us.

Happy computing!
